Brunello di Montalcino Fattoria La Lecciaia 1999

Aromas of tree bark, damp earth and leather are not what you’d call pure and polished. The flavor profile has its issues, particularly a vegetal streak. However, there’s also good berry notes and a solid feel. Not bad overall, but playing in a tough league. Lots of ripe fruit and smoky character with hints of red licorice. Full-bodied, with soft, round tannins and a medium finish. Slightly loosely knit on the finish, but very nice.
